TIPS FOR RECRUITING

Recruiting great talent is a challenging process.  Below are some tips that may make the process a little easier to navigate.

  1. Think like a student.
  2. Evaluate challenges prospective employees may have (relocation, loans, cost of living, insurance, etc.) and address them when presenting your salon/spa.
  3. WOW them. What is your salon/spa “wow” factor?
  4. Recognize how the prospective employee communicates. Do they respond best to phone or email?
  5. When asked, students choose a salon/spa because of 1) relationship with the owner and 2) the opportunity for continuing education. They work very hard during school and expect it to continue throughout their career.
  6. Be prepared to discuss your salon/spa vision. How can the prospective student be a part of the owners dream and how can they sell the dream?
  7. If you get one student, you actually get two. Students relocate together.
